Martin Craciun

Tireless globetrotter, he has developed exhibitions, screenings, workshops and concerts in most of Uruguay’s exhibition spaces, cultural center and galleries, as well as projects in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Brazil, Austria, United States, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, China, Portugal and Italy. Between 2003 and 2015 he was part of the artistic collective alonso+craciun. He co-directed AMORIR a place for artistic, aesthetic and political practices (2007-2008). Since December 2020 he is curator at large of SUBTE Montevideo Arts Center and advices Montevideo City Council´s Culture Department. He represented Uruguay at the Architecture Venice Biennial in 2010 and 2014 (co-curator), at the XII biennial of Havana 2015, the 7th and 11th Mercosur Biennale 2009 and 2018. Guest curator at CTM Festival Berlin 2019 and 2020. During 2019 he accompanied artist Leandro Erlich throughout his worldwide projects. He was the curator of the Uruguayan participation to the XII and XIII Medial Arts Biennale of Chile 2015 and 2017 guest curator at the IX SIART Biennial of La Paz, Bolivia 2016 and Lisbon Capital of Culture of Ibero-Americas 2017. He was the curator of the Cultural Program of the Contemporary Art Fair Este Arte (2016, 2017, 2018). General director and artistic director of SOCO Festival; International festival of advanced music and contemporary culture of Uruguay. As editor he has published 6 books, Alexina b (2007), 5 narrativas, 5 edificios (2010), La Aldea Felíz (2014), Colaboración (2014), SISTEMAS, Martín Pelenur (2022), Abstracción en Movimiento v/a (2023) He has written articles for artists, magazines, institutions and organizations as Red Bull Music Academy, ECAS – European Cities for Advanced Sounds, Arte Al Día, EAC – Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo. Between 2011 and 2020 he was a lecturer at the School of Engineering and the School of Human Sciences of the Catholic University of Uruguay (UCU). He regularly dictates workshops and seminars about art, contemporary culture, technology, media and sound. He has collaborated as an advisor with artist, collectors and organizations: Raster-Noton artistic platform, artist Leandro Erlich, the musician Luciano Supervielle, the online gallery Kunzt and many others. He regularly collaborates with foreign and local culture institutions.

Encuentra mi cv completo acá, Curador independiente, asesor, profesor, artista e investigador en el campo de las artes y la cultura contemporánea. Trotamundos incansable ha desarrollado proyectos, exposiciones, audiovisuales, instalaciones y conciertos en gran parte de los espacios expositivos, centros culturales y galerías de Uruguay, así como proyectos en Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Austria, Estados Unidos, Alemania, Suiza, España, Israel, Portugal e Italia. Desde Diciembre 2020 es curador general del SUBTE Montevideo y asesora al Departamento de Cultura de la Intendencia de Montevideo. Entre 2003 – 2015 fue parte del colectivo artístico alonso+craciun. Co-director de AMORIR un lugar de prácticas artísticas estéticas y políticas (2007-2008). Representó a Uruguay en la Bienal de Venecia de Arquitectura en los años 2010 y 2014, en la XII bienal de la Habana 2015, la 7 y 11 Bienal del Mercosur 2009 y 2018. Curador invitado en CTM Festival Berlín de 2019 y 2020. Durante el 2019 acompañó al artista Leandro Erlich en sus proyectos mundiales. Fue el curador de la participación Uruguaya a la XII y XIII Bienal de Artes Mediales de Chile 2015 y 2017, curador invitado en la IX Bienal SIART de La Paz, Bolivia. Es curador del programa Cultural de la Feria de Arte Contemporáneo Este Arte (2016, 2017, 2018), curador invitado en Lisboa Capital Iberoamericana de la Cultura 2017. Es director general y director artístico de SOCO Festival; festival internacional de música avanzada y cultura contemporánea del Uruguay. Ha publicado 4 libros como editor, Alexina b (2007), 5 narrativas, 5 edificios (2010), La Aldea Felíz (2014), Colaboración (2014). Ha escrito artículos para Red Bull Music Academy, ECAS – European Cities for Advanced Sounds, Arte Al Día, EAC – Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo. Entre 2011 y 2020 fue profesor de la Licenciatura en Artes Visuales y la Licenciatura en Ingeniería Audiovisual de la Universidad Católica del Uruguay. Ha colaborado como asesor con artistas y organizaciones: la plataforma artística Raster-Noton, el artista Leandro Erlich, el músico Luciano Supervielle, la galería online Kunzt y VIX Media. Colabora regularmente con instituciones locales e institutos de cooperación cultural internacional.
